btw, fragos, I think fanoush was saying that any user that wants an advanced feature like verbose boot deserves a tricky, complicated procedure to get it working. The very nature of the hack says, "I'm an advanced user!" You're saying that you'll actually know what to do with all that extra information.

After all, if you want to open up the cover on a complex machine, you have to be willing to peel off the sticker that says, "no user-serviceable parts inside"

As for me, I just replace the boot splash screen with my own. That's easy and safe.

EDIT: Here's a howto for replacing the bootsplash with a custom image. Nice and straightforward, no messing with initfs.
