Well it is obvious from many PM's that a lot of you aren't fans of reading (it isn't a short thread to be fair) - so I am going to create a new thread (I hope the mods don't mind) to inform you how to get Wargus to run Warcraft II;

Step 1: Install Wargus and Stratagus (Strategy Gaming Engine)
Step 2: Use Wargus (http://wargus.sourceforge.net/) on your PC to extract the data files from the Warcraft II CD (Not Battle Net Edition)
Step 3: Copy that data directory to your N900 and rename it "wargus"
Step 4: Put that directory into /opt/stratagus/share/

You should have all your Warcraft II data in /opt/stratagus/share/wargus/

Now click the icon for "Wargus" and play Warcraft II on your N900, this worked for me. I hope it works for all of you.

If this method works for you, just click the thanks button - no need to clutter unless you have some important input. If you have any questions - DO NOT PM ME, just use search and if you do not find your answer post below.

It would be helpful if someone could upload the Wargus Data Directory to save everyone from Step 2 (PM me if you have a link to this).

I never plaid Warcraft II before so I don't know if it is running how it should, but it seems to work fine. I personally miss Starcraft.

- Tony

Try running "/opt/stratagus/bin/wargus" from X terminal and see what errors it gives you.

I copied the wargus file a gain and run the command above, the result is:

Stratagus default config file loading.....

[string "/usr/share/games/stratagus/wargus/scripts/s..."]:88 attempt to call global 'SetXPDamage' (a nil value) stack traceback:
[string "/usr/share/games/stratagus/wargus/scripts/s.."0:88 in main chunk

I have no idea what it mean what so ever

I had the same problem - in the end I had to download the latest stratagus & wargus source code (I've no idea where the version 2.2.5.1 comes from, as it doesn't exist on the upstream sites), compile them, and re-run the CD extraction on my Linux PC. It seems some functions have been added/removed between the versions.

If you're on Windows then I've no idea what you can do - possibly there's some combination of the files from the wargus .deb package and the files extracted from the CD which will work, but I couldn't find it.

Put these files into /opt/

If it works, just press the Thanks! button on the main post so others know this is a solution. I see a lot of people are having trouble, hopefully this will fix your problems. If anyone can mirror this file that would be great.

cp if you want to copy them, mv if you want to move them, you you could use a program called Midnight Commander (get it from repos). Try to keep questions on topic to get Warcraft II working for everyone.
