You also need to change Settings -> Text input -> Hardware keyboard layout (not just language) to Ελληνικά.

ok. i managed to make the virtual keyboard work in greek so far and i am very pleased! i might try again later for the hardware keyboard

Εαν ακολουθήσεις τις οδηγίες είναι εφικτό να έχεις το hardware (ποιά είναι η σωστή ελληνική λέξη για hardware τέλος πάντων) πληκτρολόγιο στα Ελληνικά.

Necromancy alert!

I am going crazy here. Using the RX-51 modification, how do I get ϊ (basically the diairesi)? Sorry, my stupid laptop here at work has some lockdown that prevents me from typing in Greek characters...

Skalorge do you mean using the virtual keyboard or the regular one?

Yes, you can!

There is a pretty good article on the wiki about remapping the hw keyboard: http://wiki.maemo.org/Remapping_keyboard

For the virtual keyboard, there is an app called ukeyboard in the repos.

I, for one, created a full Hungarian hw keyboard mapping. This allows me to write öüóőúéáűí on the N900's hardware keys pretty easily.
(I remapped the Fn + arrow key combinations and the currency symbols to achieve that.)
