Launch it from xterm by typing rdesktop and after crash, read errors in xterm.

If for some reason its really broke and not just a configuration issue, then you might try the command line (launched) version i built here :

That version is latest (v1.5) but no gui launcher.

I suppose you can use Remote Connection Manager (https://garage.maemo.org/projects/connectionmanag/) with this cli version ...
And tell me how you find Remote COnnection Manager
