As a desktop-environment this is not very good option. it can be used, but just running this environment takes 3/4 of the memory and it slows down everything. It's a nice playground and shows what this small tablet is able to run, but it cannot replace hildon-desktop in small tablet like n8x0.

Konqueror is way too heavy to use, you can load page or two, but then your tablet is jammed.

The developer who made this thing has been showing off everything cool like amarok etc.

This is slow, but can actually be used. KDE 4 in debian and in ubuntu are both too slow to use on tablet...
Have you tried adding a 512MB or something similar of swap from command line and then running it? It might be usable then. I mean, especially with the 48Mhz kernel, it might be reasonable. Swap on these cards is way better than swap on a normal hard drive but I think we forget that a lot.

Really? How would one install 4.2.1 in Mer? I just got rid of Mer so I could clone my Maemo install...

It's soo easy. apt-get install kdebase-workspace

You might also want to install

kdebase - basic apps for kde
kdm - display manager
openbox - lightweight and fast window-manager
obconf - tool to change openbox settings

Hey, I just tried this but get an error while installing libc6; dpkg says something like "failed to create ./usr/share/man/<some file name>. No such file or directory.". Ideas?

Same here, yeah... Try what I did... I hope it works...

Code:
echo "libc6 hold"|dpkg --set-selections
apt-get install kdebase
apt-get install kdebase-workspace

meizirkki, how did you get KDE4 to run so quickly in your video on Youtube? Do I have to add a shitload of swap, or is there another secret?
