It's not a big deal, just use the device to check mail and cruise a few sites when at work.
400 x 240 will be full screen and will also be good quality image with the encoding set at 250kbs will play 20-30fps.

800x480 will skip and lag very badly, around 6-10 fps

if you want to hack around with various encoding options using a linux box to do the heavy lifting, have a go with my script:
