as @Zas said you should have that applet, if you dont you can install it by this commands :
after the installation is successful you can notice a new applet in your status areaCode:sudo gainroot apt-get install status-area-orientationlock-applet

Read the thread again perhaps you need to use the gconf editor or something else in the wiki...
