Try checking your /etc/ssh/sshd_config file and make sure that you have the password login directive turned on. If it is not it is likely that you will not get any response from the n800 (haven't tried this yet as I am using it to go in the other direction).
This is the config file for the daemon. This relates to the openSSH implementation (not sure about the bear ssh thing).

There is also a directive for permitting/not permitting empty passwords and remote root logins (which is not a good idea).
