I suspect that it is a 1024x600 screen which would be pretty nice for use when browsing. The Ubuntu Mobile specs mention this screen size as well as 800x480.
The aspect ratio of the display is about 3.4. 1024x600 is about 1.7. I don't think it has 1024x600. Perhaps more something like the Nokia Communicators? The aspect ratio looks similar. They have 640x200 which is 3.2. Of course with a higher Resolution.
