I've tried to uninstall Cinaest, then made a reboot and installed it again. The problem is that Cinaest apperantly doesn't uninstall completely, since all my settings (and problems) are the same as before the uninstallment.

Go to the terminal and remove the ~/.cache/cinaest directory:

rm -rf ~/.cache/cinaest

And then run it again. This directory is where it downloads and keeps the imdb-list. Maybe it had a partially downloaded list and was stuck by it.

I don't know where it saves its settings; if it's a gconf database you'd have to download gconf-editor or something like that to delete them.

I removed the database, but after downloading the database again, I only get the same old "No movies"...

Just downloaded this to see if the Movie Showtimes functionality is working. Doesn't seem to be. On first run I got a No Movies screen. Went to settings and set my location and tried again - sat there with a wait cursor for 15 minutes and gave up. Haven't installed imdb data or anything else for it if this is pertinent.

An additional small point: can't help thinking this should be called cineast not cinaest. Am I being particularly anglo-centric or is there a reason for the alternate spelling?

Is there a homepage or bugzilla for this app? Appreciate it is probably in very early stages of development.

cheers
