eeer, afaik, it 2g isnt available, it will go up a level, which is 2.5g. if that isnt available either, it will use 3g.

if 3g is available, but the device doesnt need it (because your not on the phone or online), it will still go down to the lowest available standard, to save battery.

This does not make any sense. If the phone is in auto mode it will always choose the best available. If 3g is not found then it will use 2/2.5g

hm ok i checked again, my device is on 3g all the time, so you're right.

but what i wrote seems to be true for 3.5g ^^
3.5g is only used when its needed.
