if i held the phone in landscape in 1,0 with music player open it only closed when swiping from buttonside. if i turned it around and held it upsidedown landscape with blankside up it wouldnt close on swipe from blankside.

im pretty sure, cause i remember noticing it since i thought the top of the app dictated the closing swipe.

e.g. Music app which is locked in portrait-only never closed before by sliding its side (physical top-down swipe) while held in landscape.

So yeah, the behavior did change with PR1.1 and "for me" and for many others, it's worse. But I guess I'm the minority.
I agree that it has changed. App based before, now physical orientation based. I like how it is now since it is uniform, but to be honest, I think it should be a selectable option.

I'm still on PR1.0 and it's good to know that this is changed in PR1.1. Too many times I've closed the video player with the intent of putting it in the background

sunc. try this for me: open Music Player, hold the device in landscape mode, and swipe from the nokia logo (IE from left to right) and tell us if it closes or gets put in the background .

I tried many times with many apps. In pr 1.1 it depends the phone orientation. I think it's better, tha in 1.0.

Im talking about sunc trying it in PR 1.0, because either im getting old and not remembering things correctly, or the close in 1.0 was dependant on phone orientation but limited to nokiaside (top of normal portrait) or buttonside (top of normal landscape), disregarding how the app percieves itself to be showing.

However it seems several claim that Im mistaken and that it only depended on the app, IE music player would ONLY close when swiping from nokialogo even if you held it in landscape.

IME it closed from buttonside if you held it landscape. In PR 1.0.

And I cant wrap my head around that.

I can confirm that in PR1.0 it closes the music player regardless of the actual phone orientation.

Although I like the way it is in PR1.1 (phone orientation), I agree that a setting would be nice. Knobs are cool.
