What the hell? Then how did I end up with touchscreen PDA's like my old Handspring Visor and, later in the early 2000's YEARS before the DS came out, my Palm Tungsten TX? F***! I musta time travelled and given them to myself in the past! I wonder when I'm going to do that.

I have nothing against apple. I use an Imac at home and apple tv plus airport extreme router. I use an ipod for my car audio. 80% of my office carries an iphone. Only me the bastard uses N900. When i go shopping, on one sells a leather case for a N900 but i see a whole wall of Iphone covers.

Itunes is simply a music manager for songs. Napster was way before itunes.

Before mac, i was using Ubuntu and stumbled upon the great gurus here and learnt about Linux.

My 1st touch screen phone? Ericsson R380.

Angry birds was for all touchscreen phones.

I don't hate the iphone. I simply like to make my miserable life difficult my using the N900.

And i love it.

i remember watching a tv ad for the ipad (on comedy central uk), the ad was all about showing that the ipad can be used in all ways (landscape, and portrait) i think apple was afraid of the n900, and they made that ad just for the n900.....

i wanna know why are you bashing on apple.

if it wasnt for apple, people wouldnt have a sweet music store(itunes)

if it wasnt for apple, people were forced to use windows.

if it wasnt for apple, there would be no touch screen phone till 2011.

if it wasnt for apple, there would be no angrybirds.

can someone reply to me in this thread on why do you hate apple/iphone?
What?
Sweet music store?? hahaha

People were forced to use Windows if it wasn't for Apple??? Hmm, well then, maybe GNU/Linux is made by Apple huh?
Guess you are right then! I'm using Apple Debian GNU/Linux 6 - Squeeze!

Till 2011??? I'm still laughin!

I don't know what you mean by this one!

All softwares made by Apple are close-source. Also, I think iPhone 4 is better than, let's say Nokia 1100, but not better than Nokia N900. (IMO)

This now, this time, it's not ours. We weren't here when it happened. The experiment took place on a ship in a Philadelphia harbor. It was - 1943, October. Does this sound... crazy? You know, or is this sort of thing possible now?

Most, sure. All? Nope. Examples: launchd, webkit, cups, bonjour, libdispatch, llvm, and so on. See e.g. http://opensource.apple.com/ and http://www.macosforge.org/

Oh yeah. Opensource? Cool, but...
  • Open source? Cool! Where I can download iOS sources, then? Nowhere? Oh, that sucks. Not even kernel source? It turns out that apple isn't that opensource company, actually. When it comes to iPhone, it looks like you're locked out. So I can't even have a custom kernel like it happens on my n900.
  • Then, maybe I can add some alternate app store catalog? No? Uhm, vendor lock-ins are not in open source spirit either. I have to agree their draconian rules or do not use their devices. I'm preferring second option
  • Can I gain root on iPhone? No? But why? I bought this device. It's mine. I'm always paying full price for unlocked units only and then selecting carrier myself. So once I bought phone, it's mine. So I should be able to do whatever I want to. Including root access of course. Locking me out of MY device looks like cheating. It's like if I bought car but can't drive it and forced to obey driving directions from car's vendor.
  • apple haves certain problems with privacy policy. As for me I do not trust apple at all. And I do not trust their closed software either. Nokia on other hand seems to care about my privacy. This is good for sure. They confirm all doubtful actions and I always can opt out. Not a case with apple.
  • Apple uses non-standard software and protocols. And does not bothers itself documenting these protocols and even prevents others from implementing them. So I either have to love their stupid itunes (which is a real iCrap, IMHO) or I'm out of luck. Not to mention they "forgot" to build itunes for my favorite x64 ubuntu. Lack of freedom of choice sucks so much! Why apple chooses supported OSes instead of me and only offers two OSes at all? And it's I am who pays moneys for everything, after all. Look, I can attach n900 to virtually any computer supporting USB mass storage and FAT. Even my router can handle this as USB disk. Then I can upload some music, etc. Not a case with apple.
In short, I dislike how apple treats its customers (and staff, if we'll remember suicide history of their worker). Actually, Apple seems to be a very restrictive company. I do not want to be restricted after paying my moneys. And I do not want to support companies who interrogate their employees just because some crappy phone has been lost. For some reason, apple resembles religious sects or even dictatorship to me. With apple device I can't lost feeling that it's not I'm who owns device, but it's their device who tries to own me. Customer is always right? Haha, nope. Apple is always right. They decide each and every thing instead of their customer.

Yes, yes yes, but he was responding to a specific accusation agin Apple, which was fairly easily contradicatble. That all of your accusations are to a greater or lesser extent valid doesn't mean AMLJ's one isn't.

My reason:

Never liked them, period. Just not a fan. Simple as that. Can't make someone like something they don't like. :]

We have to admit that Steve had done more for Apple than anything else. He drives the products and I think that, in line with your commment and as I have mentioned in a previous thread, if we had Steve working for Nokia or someone as passionate and driven as Steve is....then there would be no iPhone as such.

That is what is missing with Nokia, a face, a presence, someone who personifies the product.
