For my part, to get my wi-fi connection working, I have to type as root :
Code:
# ifup wlan0 # To make sure the system loaded the firmware
# ifup --force wlan0 # To configure the WLan interface without putting it down (with ifdown && ifup, the driver will unload the firmware, and then won't work while configuring)
# ifdown usb0 # I don't know why, but my tablet can't connect without this.
In addition, I had to copy /lib/firmware/* from OS2008 to /lib/firmware of debian.

Thank you! I bet it's the firmware thing that's getting me.

I actually knew about the usb0 thing, as the Zaurus has the same issue (having usb0 up stops dhclient from working on wlan0).

Hmm...Wireless still doesn't seem to be working.

Any more ideas?

I have an Xmodmap. Where is the preferred place to put it? Just copy and paste in into the wiki?

OK... let me copy firmware on my end too. BTW to JackX.. nothing and I mean nothing in the way of an error message, in /var/log/messages or in dmesg. (tailed both..)

Still searching for that elusive error message *grin*

Ok, we now have wlan

ifup during boot. Doesn't work, I had previously copied the firmware in.

ifup --force wlan0... and I got it to connect ... without wep or wpa....

Anyone know how to make the browser stop with the incessant pop-ups when you are trying to type in the location bar.... reeeeeeeaaaaaallly annoying.

Additional ... compositing works.... at least the shadow part so far.... this is gonna be fun!

Can't tell I'm having fun (3 posts in a row!)

Found a "bug" that might help in figuring out the fb0 problem, might not.

May:/home/james# /etc/init.d/x-server stop
/etc/init.d/x-server: line 44: /root/debs/fb_update/fb_update_mode: No such file or directory

Yes .... it's going to be a long and hopefully enjoyable weekend.

Copy the debs folder from /home/user to /root.

Anybody know how to make my bluetooth mouse work? Has anybody tried? I'll post details later if nobody cares to post a how-to (on Debian).

PS- I'm a n00b with Bluetooth

I just use iwconfig to connect to my router, though, I don't have any encryption set up on my wlan >_>
