I've been to most places in Western Europe, including several visits to UK, France and Italy, and booze certainly is way more cheaper everywhere (excluding other Nordic countries).
You're mistaken my friend.
Price of booze in nice bars/clubs:
Pint of beer - London £12 / Dublin 8/9€, Venice/Rome 7-10€. Helsinki 4/5€.
Cocktails - London 15-20£ / Dublin 15-20€, Venice/Rome 12-15€,
Helsinki 8-12€.

For me that's cheap.

EDIT: For London I mean Maifair/South Kensington
For Dublin Temple Bar ofc.
Venice/Rome any members bar and for Helsinki either the Swedish Theatre buildings bar or Cuba bar.

Those high-end London prices are far from representative of UK prices (not to mention that's an expensive part of London) . Here in Oxford I'd expect to pay £5 or less for a cocktail, and somewhat less for a beer. I don't actually know how much beer is only that it's cheaper than Coke, which is about £2-3 a pint in pubs. That said, I don't go to the "status" establishments.

I hate Finland, since some lowlife mother****er stole my phone during weekend. No, alcohol was not involved.

no, he's not. all scandinavian countries have ridiculous taxes on beer and wine. taxes on liquors (=cocktails) are closer to other european countries.

and i don't believe the "normal" price for a pint in london is 12 pounds

I love Finland because ...

1. My Finnish wife
2. Cheap, top quality health care. Here's a price list: http://bit.ly/7SUwyQ
3. Excellent free education system. Free even at university level.
4. Linux
5. Nokia

Dislike:

Getting taxed to death to pay for all the benefits
