It was stupid to even bring those language files to the user-visible category to begin with. They should all be hidden, and the application extended to download the appropriate language package based on locale. This might be too much work to do for free of course, but I curse every time I have to scroll through those in HAM.

Look, I'm all for having debian packages of dictionaries, it's trivial to make them. However, I'm not going to make any until I'm sure that they are free to use and not copyrighted. If anyone can point me to stardict dictionaries that are completely free and not just databases extracted from commercial products, then I will consider packaging them.
