It's not Android's fail, it's "feature" from Nokia's hw&software design.

Proper solution: discharge battery completely and charge it in NITDroid.

I'd like to use a vfat partition in my micro sd as the sdcard for Nitdroid so my folder MyDocs wouldn't be polluted when installing Android applications.

Does anyone knows how to do it? Nitdroid doesn't seem to have an /etc/mtab to manually edit mountings.

I appreciate the work you and the other devs do to get NITDroid working on the N900, but what you suggest is a lousy solution. Maemo doesn't suffer from this problem, and WTF am I supposed to do if I have a fully charged battery available but no charger because I am not at home. I have an external charger and several spare batteries, most of the time I would rather just swap batteries than plug the N900 in.

i have edited the leafpad as described and saved it( leafpad /etc/multiboot.d/11 and pressed TAB and then edited the device name from ITEM_DEVICE=${INT_CARD}p2 to ITEM_DEVICE=mmcblk0p2 and saved it) i then closed everything down but on reboot it goes directly into maemo.

any help plz?

Do not reboot, turn it off, and turn it on. It's not the same!
