It would be good if the app defaults to “my library” and therefore starts playing music as soon as the play key is selected. Presently when I press the play key I get a “no more content to play” message.

It defaults to playing the last selected station, so if you e.g. are listening to your neighbourhood, close Vagalume and open it again, pressing 'play' will play that same station.
I think that's a good feature, and it's working fine for me here.

I guess Last.fm acts differently depending on where you connect from ... I guess I can try to keep the current behavior but play "my library" as a fallback if everything else fails.
Do you have such a setup at your disposal? If not, you may be able to get the same results using the deb-chroot+installing wireshark. If you're unfamiliar with the above, I (and others I'm sure) can gently guide you in the right direction.
