Remove entry from blacklist and reboot phone or run this command as root:
$ modprobe bq27x00_battery

Note that BME does not support reporting temperature. Only bq27x00_battery module.

Ever since I upgraded battery widget, it shows different percentage. IIRC, the changelog says it reads from bq.

So, what you are saying is that when I get widget values of 40% left, and the phone beeps and shuts itself off (via BME), I actually have 40% left? What am I missing here, multimeter says BME is right.

Also, it goes nuts for small charges. Had battery at 40%, charged 10 minutes. Nokia says 50%, widget says 90%. Voltage is neigh identical. And at 3.9 volts, it's kind of neither.

Battery level has been a bit of a pet peeve of mine, since so many gadgets I have, some quite cheap, are so accurate. All Maemo seems to do is a decay average. Or less, a rate-limited convergence. Not to mention its odd way of not feeding user on charge.

I assume that it's not your code that does percentage calculation, so I'm probably just venting.

I think that Joerg mean in that post that bq27x00 is deprecated on our device due to chip and BME characteristic - but of course I can't be sure, I'm not specialist and and that is just how i understand it. would be glad to settle this thing once for all.

And Pali, what about my question of contacting council about kernel maintainer status? It's really pity that "extras" version is 23 or so (in fact it DOESN'T work now - extras not-working :/), and kernel-power v47 will sit in devel forever. And one day longer, cause no one can push it up, no matter of votes or whatever.

@ndi:
I looked to datasheet of bq27x00 chip again. Percentage which return chip is defined as: nominal available capacity as / last measured discharge value. So you can get 100% when you charge battery to full.

And I see that BME nevert report 100%. So BME must report percentage in other way (e.g. available capacity / design capacity)

So I think this is problem...

@estel:
I contacted countil, but without responce...

pali, is there any reason in particular that the minstrel_aziwopka patch was taken out of the power47 series? I know it'd been commented out for a long time, but Adam Polkosnik posted a fixed version here (along with one for armthumb as well, which is cleaner than having the arm-proc-v7 diff that removes a comment so armthumb can patch successfully) that can replace it?

Finally can you please also include this patch into kernel-power 48? It's for compcache/zram - I'm hoping to have a package out for it very soon. You've got admin privs to the kernel-power garage page, by the way

One thing I've noticed about the bq27x00 module is that if you unload the module (i.e. run "modprobe -r bq27x00_battery") then my N900 will reboot after 5-10 minutes.
