This is surly a good attempt by the maemo community. After Nokia stopped supporting, it decided to take charge. I could not have re-installed all my favourite apps without the work-around put up by the community.

With the repository down while it is being migrated, does anyone know if it is possible to get hold of the packages and install them using the Debian package manager.

I'm just asking because I have a spare N900 that I want to configure the same as my existing one. It is new out of the box and needs all the maemo software updates and security patches.

Also, if Nokia do not want to host the maemo repository on their servers, does that mean that have dropped all support for the N900.

Just a quickie. I checked out some of the links with mirrors to the repositories. Some are do not have the same packages and some failed to update apt-mgr due to chk sum errors in the files.

I know that sudo gainroot does not work unless you install rootsh or put the N900 in development mode. I am some what reluctant to do that considering the threads that I have read. Is there another way of gaining root, maybe boot to single user mode and edit the sudoers file or the gainroot script itself.

First, thanks a lot for the effort you have carried out to keep maemo.org up and running.

I'm commenting here because it seems that I'm totally unable to log in in maemo.org any more.

I can log in in talk.maemo.org and garage.maemo.org but my user and password for maemo.org are not working any more and I don't know how to try to reset or ask for a new password.

Can you help me with this?

today i touch my old n900 which has been sitting on my drawer so quite half a year, and i notice this installation problem! thanks for fixing it.
