I bought Nokia 770 with OS 2006 v3.2006.49-2 version installed. The Linux world is guite stragne to me, but I'll manage.

I have been succesful by installing DropBear SSH and some other utilities like Mplayer etc.. Wi-fi works quite nicely in my LAN. the device is a toy. Windows workgroup seems to the the major problem now, anb the fact that the device can't muscle those DivX files I have (640x...). I'm not gonna downStream those. No way.


Then I came across this Hacker Edition for Nokia 770 that transforms the OS from 2006 to 2007 (http://maemo.org/community/wiki/os2007on770/).

After flahsing this new (SU-18_2007HACKER_2.2006.47-17_PR_F5_MR0_ARM.bin) image with Nokia's Nokia Internet Tablet Software Update Wizard I was amazed: the Device lookd amazingly new And Finnish Locales were also there. All seems to work GREAT. Only thing that does not workd were Build IN media player and that Mplayer (mplayer_1.0rc1-maemo.17.n800_armel.deb). I could not get any video shown, just black screen.

? Are those N800 and N770 devices alkie? Despite that 250 Mhz Omap is 330 in N800, but are the DSP and other hardware similar so that the drivers for audio/video can work with OS2007 on a N700 hardware? Yeah, memory is also different...

Is this a good idea to make this permanent change?

Now that Skype is for N800, will it work with N770 HW with Hackd OS2007?

did you tried the suggest changes in the bugfix page?
mplayer is working withe 2007 HE Edition. You have to install the Nokia 770 version. (N800 has a different DSP)
Skype is (still) not working with N770.

And please try the next the search function. Every question you asked, was asked (and answered) many times before...
