As the title states, is there anyway? I find it really annoying, when I have to reboot and take out my SIM card and reinsert it back again because my N900 randomly doesn't recognize the SIM card sometimes.

That's odd, I never have to reset after a battery change. I turn it off - exchange battery - turn on - use as usual.

i think not. It should have been like on laptops that you can switch batteries when you keep it plugged to charger...

maybe someone smart enough can hack this somehow?

@Gigabyte,
I am afraid that's not possible with N900, I heard that n900 won't even be able to charge the battery and have to jump start the battery through other mean if we let the battery completely drained. That tell us N900 is using power directly from the battery only.

I would prefer a kind of "hibernate":

You press "pm-hibernate".
You exchange the battery.
You restart.

But that is not (yet?) working.

There is a small battery built into the N900 but after about 6 months it fails to charge, hence the problem every time the main battery is removed.

So this is a closed case *sigh* it really feels awkward when asking somebody on the sidewalk for the time, when your N900 resets.

What type is it?
Can it be replaced?
