I haven't seen official announcements made yet, but the latest OS2008 images can be found from these links:

Hopefully I don't get into trouble posting these... but hey, these links are publicly accessible and anybody could have figured these out after trying enough combinations...

EDIT: Since the links aren't yet active, I removed them here from causing any further confusion. Will post back once they become active again.

EDIT2: The files are now online. Links have been updated, but only to serial number verification screen. This is because the serial number has to be validated once before the file can be downloaded anyway...

Will this be the update that let's us do future updates without reflashing?

Or is that an update for a later day...

That should come with Diablo. This is release is likely targeted specifically at the power on problem that has troubled so many tablets of late.

My current understanding is that the 51-3 firmware was still in testing, which is why there hasn't been a formal announcement yet. Use at your own risk.

That's normal - firmware and repo's are hosted on an IBM PCJr with a 14400 modem, remeber ? : )

The link to the N800 firmware appears to be for OS2007 anyway, right?
