There is a first version of Flash 10 for the iPhone at http://digitaldj.net/ (http://github.com/comex/frash) using Adobes Flash Player shared library libflashplayer.so from Android 2.2. Froyo.

So I guess libflashplayer.so should run on the N900 too besides legal issues.

Could someone have a look at frash and maybe write a similar wrapper for the N900 and a web browser plugin for it?

Thanks,
Michael

So why does it work for the iPhone?

It's using a wrapper, doing that on an N900 may work, but the speeds won't be impressive.

Running the binary fails silently in browser. Tested that right after it went online for android.
But in the long term view we could hope for lightspark to catch up
http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/lightspark

PS: They'd need an assembly code hacker for that, as some code is x86 assembly to speed things up. If someone is willing to do and has enough knowledge, many people would be thankful. Even if it's only working for video playback.
Pulseaudio - check, FFMpeg - check, OpenGL - check. Not that unrealistic to port.

Not overly. No video playback and less-than-stellar performance, basically all the reasons you'd want a real 10.1 for on the N900

On the N900 it must be even simpler as as libflashplayer.so is a Linux ARM ELF binary. For the speed I guess libflashplayer.so contains Adobe's Actionscript AVM2 (maybe even a JIT) which should run at the same speed on the N900. A well written wrapper would not slow it down noticably. For the drawing stuff I'm not shure what Android Flash does actually use for graphics output rendering. Guess it should be possible to map it into the existing N900 graphics system including some hardware acceleration.

Cheers, M.
