I have not had my N800 very long, and am pretty much a newbie with pc knowledge. My problem is that I have not been able to install the Kagu media player. The main issue is that there are some missing library files. I've tried to solve the problem on my own. Now it's time to call in some help.

Try to write down some informations about your issue, otherwise we can't help you.
What errors?
What share libraries?

If you can, also a pic.

After aempting to install from the application manager the first error message is "Unable to install. Some packages required for the installation are missing.?
I then opened Details. Here is the list of the needed packages as it was listed:
libsdl-tff2.0-0
libsdl-tff2.0-0
libgdbm3
libbcurses5(>=5.4-1)
libreadline4(>=4.3-1)
This it I've had some difficultiy finding this package

KingofJames,

trying to jump in here, although I installed KAGU a couple of times now without such errors, here is what I would do

1) install python 2.5 first
http://maemo.org/downloads/product/python

2) install KAGU from this location
http://maemo.org/downloads/product/kagu

what I usually do is to open those pages in a web browser window, klick those links, but I do NOT install directly from the link, but download the install package to a local N800 directory location (e.g. documents). then I open the install files from there, the N800 recognizes it is an install file, opens the appication manager, and starts the installation. later on I delete those install packages from the temportary location (e.g. documents).
Donīt know why, but I usually have less problems doing it this way then to install it directly from the web...?...?...?

good luck,
karl.

Good advice, Karl. That's the method I use to successfully install many of my applications which the Application Manager fails initially to do. I definitely have far "fewer" problems doing it that way. Regards, Jim

Hey guys thanks for your collective help. Sorry to say that I'm pretty sure that my issue is deeper than saving the app. to the memory and disableing the applicatioin directories. The problem is that I cannot install Python 2.5 runtime, kagu media player and it seems that I can't install anything that needs the python packages. I'm still getting the same messages:
libsdl-tff2.0-0
libsdl-tff2.0-0
libgdbm3
libbcurses5(>=5.4-1)
libreadline4(>=4.3-1)

I'm sure that this is not a new problem to someone out there. I'm looking forward to getting solution ideas.
Thanks James

Please refer to the "Cannot install Python 2.5" topic under "Troubleshooting" and go to page 5. TTGowings has a solution there and it works perfectly.

After installation, you can rvert to the blue pill mode.

KingofJames et al,

I also included the solution from Tahitibob in the KAGU WIKI:
https://garage.maemo.org/plugins/wik...&id=304&type=g

This is the main link to the KAGU WIKI in the maemo garage space:

https://garage.maemo.org/plugins/wik...?id=304&type=g

cheers, karl.
