Hi,

I have made a small program with python that allows me to use my N770 as a wireless keyboard. It's not very useful yet but I hope to improve it in the near future. I made a short clip of me using it (sorry for the rotation but I coudnt fit the monitor and the tablet otherwise)

I am a 100% noob at python so dont laugh

Very nice! Maybe you could put this up somewhere? This actually seems like a great idea, and maybe something to take even further. Great work

Yes I will release it once it is ready, that can take a few days. I want to make it more graphical. I hope to integrate mouse control also so that I won't need a mouse to control my media in front of the plasma TV.

Great idea. Seeing as you're interested in adding more features to it, I would suggest (if you have the time... I know I have none ) to look at controlling a LIRC daemon (http://www.lirc.org/ -- there is a Windows port called WinLIRC somewhere, and it's all open source) that can be used to emulate an IR remote control by using LEDs connected to the serial port. LIRC has a telnet interface IIRC, so it's particularly easy to use over WiFi.

Good work though!

Very nice indeed - congratulations! Looking very much forward to this - makes a nice remote for a MediaCenter! (and once I can grab your source code, I can work on a long-time input idea of mine for my preferred flight sim :-)

I'll gladly help you pack it up with PyPackager - I've now ready folder structures for full Hildon Desktop/Task Navigator integration with small/large icons everywhere.

BTW: And what is needed on the Windows desktop???

The idea is very simple.

The python app communicates with the Computer through sockets
I have made a server program that runs on the XP Machine, the server program generates keystrokes and soon I hope to make it generate mouse motion also.

How I will do it is another thing? I am planning some kind of "touch pad" type interface. Another solution would be a "joystick" or something

I will try to make the first release within one week once I have made the decision on how to implement the keyboard technically.

The idea would be that we would have different layouts for different tasks like media, web, email etc.

You can post you comments here if you like.

This is exactly what I've been looking for! I want to use my 770 as a wireless keyboard so I can use it as a wireless midi keyboard for Ableton Live. Is there any way to get this program as it is? I only need the keyboard feature ( no mouse emulation ).

If I work hard tonight I might get a draft version out tomorrow (in Finland).. one that supports custom keyboard layouts (you need a grapics program to make them).

What kind of layout would you be looking for?

I am from the US, so just a regular qwerty layout would be fine. The layout is not very important because I will be making a script which combines many keystrokes into one. If you need help with any design work I am good with photoshop and illustrator. Let me know if you need any assistance.
