My understanding is that the current version of AbiWord on the 770 only supports its native format (.abw I think).

You could use the native format and use AbiWord to convert back & forth on your host machine.

use gmail, it renders doc files into html. very useful, just send it to your gmail account, and it will work fine.

As far as I understand, Abiword comes with certain import functionality, one of which is Microsoft Word (see http://www.abisource.com/help/en-US/...oformats.html). The only thing I read is that AbiWord version 2.4.1 doesn't work too well on the Nokia 770. The new version 2.4.2 is optimized for our new best friend (see the change log http://www.abisource.com/changelogs/2.4.2.phtml @ Renato Filho). Only, the Linux version is not out yet.

I just found some AbiWord 2.4.2 Linux link in the AbiWord mailing list, see http://www.abisource.com/mailinglist.../Jan/0016.html. This version seems to be for SUSE linux only. I'm not sure whether this would work on the Nokia 770, as I'm not so much into linux.

I have the same issue with the ????? in abiword. I now use antiword to convert it the files to pdf, ps, or txt.
