Is there a limit on the MiniSD capacity supported by the N800?

Technically the limit to SD cards (in general) is 2GB, sticking to the SD standard. There are cards that go above that such as SDHC cards. Right now, 4GB, 8GB, and 16GB SDHC cards are on the market. 32GB and 64GB on their way (months?). MiniSD is treated as any other SD card. The N800 doesn't differentiate between different types of SD cards (micro, mini, SD, SDHC ...), so all will work as if they are SD cards.

So..... The biggest MiniSD card that you can find is the answer for today. Theoretically there is no limit, but practically it's 4 GBs.

MiniSD cards (upto 2GBs): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...16&name=MiniSD

MiniSDHC cards(upto 4GB): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...name=mini+SDHC

So right now you can mostly find up to 4GBs for MiniSD(HC), but if you look real hard on the net you might be able to find 8GB and 16GB versions, but you'll pay nicely

----------

The N800 will support up to 2GBs out of the box (officially), 4GBs cards will work unofficially. With the latest Firmware SDHC cards are supported and hence up to 8GBs (and more I assume) will be supported. That's PER card. So if you get TWO 8GB SDHC cards, you got 16GBs of Flash mem

Answer your question(s) Spacey?

There is a Limit. Normal SD goes up to 2GB (unoffically 4GB) SDHC up to 64GB.
Successor standards could be supportet through firmware updates. But thats in the future. 64GB SDHC cards aren't available yet.

Gotcha, I'm gonna get the 8GB from newegg now, and possibly get the 32GB next summer. This would let me sell my iPod and have 1 less device to lug around =).

Interestingly, microSD seems to offer higher capacity then miniSD - here's a 6Gb microSD from SanDisk: http://www.supermediastore.com/sandi...mory-card.html, highest capacity miniSD I've seen so far is 4Gb.

There's also soon to be 8GB microSD. Two stores have it backordered.

I thought the designed-in limit for SDHC was 32GB, not 64GB.. mind you, I'm not complaining if the latter is true!

Hmm, german wikipedia says 32GB. English 2048GB.
I think 32GB is right. But I'm not sure.
