N800: I cannot seem to enable swap file on my new 8GB SDHC. The N800 reboots while creating the swap file...

Anyone else experience this?

Oh wow. Actually - it seems that any file transfer to and from the 8GB SDHC fails...

N800 shows the white Nokia screen and I have to remove the battery in order to get life back in it...

Any ideas?

I can offer info on the card. I just bought a Transend 8GB SDHC card from newegg (~$60) and it works fine in my IT with OS2007.

However, when trying to copy a file from my ReadyNAS to the IT over wifi, it says could not move file. I can create a new folder on the card and put files in it over bluetooth, but not drag a file to it from the Readynas. I just got the two cards today so I'm still fiddling with it. I don't have any other SDHC compliant devices (bought these two just for the IT) so I can't test them elsewhere.

Extending Virtual memory on to the internal memory slot worked fine though.
Hope that helps.

Thanks for the feedback, I hope I don't have a defective card...

Did you by chance install Philip Langdale's kernel patch?

Also, did you format the card before use?

Are you running Nokia's latest 2007OS for the n800 (just released last month)? It is supposed to fix a nasty SDHC corruption problem.

I have been running 2 8 Gig SDHCs since upgrading and haven't had a problem with card corruption.

Hope this helps,

Craig...

No - Because I have no idea what that is

And no format. Straight from the box to the IT and no problems. Just finished dumping my MP3's to it via USB Mass storage feature from my computer.

Take THAT Ipod "Touch"

I also have 2 8 gb sdhc cards. I started using them after the 38-2 upgrade. had an issue with then being seen. got that taken care of with a couple of reboots. Other than that no issues with extending swap or putting files on them.
