Any way to setup a cron job on the 770?

Not worried if the job gets skipped because the unit was off/asleep.

I tried to install a generic debian arm version of cron. The cron page said it had like 6 different dependents, but when I tried to run it, the only complaint I got was for libpam. I installed a generic debian arm version of libpam, and cron ran.

It sat in the process list, but didn't do anything. I set up a cronjob on the root account to write to a log file once a minute, but it never worked, although the process stayed in memory.

I'm not sure how else to troubleshoot it.

The versions I used are:

cron_3.0pl1-72_arm.deb
libpam0g_0.79-3_arm.deb

Both from ftp://ftp.debian.org/debian/pool/main/

Would welcome any input. Thanks!

There was a thread a short while back on Maemo-Developers@ which strongly suggested that cron would be a hindrance rather than a help.

However, following on from JMills' comment, Nokia are working on a proper scheduling system.

The thread can be read here:
