This was an initial observation downloading maps. I haven't had a chance to test out rotation but the changelog does note that MM will hit the CPU harder than the previous version.

Well, I even tried to set the tablet in no connection mode (the power button would still show me the menu), but as soon as I selected it, it asked me if I wanted to leave the no connection mode. As I said, I couldn't do anything (but to try and connect).

Thanks a bunch gnuite! I have a 770 running the latest HE edition and am pleased with this release. The only thing I notice that could be fixed is the black border that happens when you pan the map, but this is minor to me. Speedwise, not bad.

I'm having a problem I didn't have before. Holux GPSslim 240... It makes a connection, but sits on Establishing gps fix. Only found a reboot sorts it out. Sorry I don't have more details yet. Haven't had muuch time to play.

And, yes, i certainly had an established signal in the gps itself (it has an indicator)

Very happy with rotation. Having up always being the direction I'm traveling is GREAT!

    Gnuite,

Thank you for the ongoing, excellent effort. I have a question about zooming in. I have been searching all around for an answer in previous posts and have yet to come across any so here goes- With all these maps in their native services one can zoom in much closer than in MM. Is there any way to do the same?

    Thank you again.

I'm wondering about this as well, one repository I use can go closer, and I wouldn't mind having two additional closer zoom levels to take advantage of it.

Great release, installed this morning on my N800 and quickly tested with my bluetooth GPS. Need more time to get assimilated with new features, can't make my mind up if I prefer maps to always be facing north, rather than rotating in direction heading in. Maybe this is because I got used to original view method. :-)

Regarding the best way to install over a previous release of MM I personally decided to uninstall MM using the application manager and then delete all my maps from memory. Before installing version 2. I was pleased to note that the N800 and therefore MM remembered my bluetooth GPS Mac address so I was up and running within seconds of the install completing.

Just tried MM again when my N800 was in the off line mode to save battery when not in use and it caused MM to crash during start-up. Switching to online mode and MM starts just fine.

Did not reboot N800 after uninstalling MM 1.* and installing 2.0 is this an important step generally or not?

Thanks for all your efforts gnuite, By far ONE of the best applications for the Internet tablets with the addition of a cheap bluetooth GPS receiver.

If the file/directory doesn't exist, then Maemo Mapper will create a file with the name specified in the repository manager. The .db extension was used in the case where a directory already existed at the location specifed, to make the pathname distinct from the directory name.

I love the new version, thanks Gnuite!

One thing, when the map is upside down, if you try to use the D-pad buttons to go up-down-left-right the operation is opposite to what you expect. Other than that and few minor problems that are already reported here, everything works perfect.

    Thanks again!
