FYI, given the speed difference between NFS and Samba on most Linux systems, i'd much prefer to use NFS when possible. Just my opinion, but I find nfs pretty simple and intuitive to use, samba not so much.

I have recently got my N800 and I have installed OS2008 on it. Its working fine. I was trying to access my Laptop (windows XP Media center edition) shared files from N800, to do so I have opened File manager and found few other network machines/folder but not mine laptop. I have turned off my Norton Internet Security Firewall (windows firewall is already tured off by default, since its using Norton firewall), then tried it again but could not see my sahred files/folder from laptop. However I can see the same shared folders from other Laptop/Machine (windows XP) and even from my Archos 604wifi.

I have tried Installing Wizard Mounter, but it said "Missing modules", I have tried to find/install those modules but could get it.

My laptop is listed in "workgroup" (not in domain), I have full privilges on my user ID on laptop.

Could somebody help me to get the network shared files from my laptop on N800. I don't know why its not listing my sahred folders in "file manager".

I also wanted to reverse, I mean if I could access my N800 from my Laptop, is it possible? I appreciate your help.

Thanks.
Arun.

P.S.: All/Any Computer can read/Write that Vista PW Free Sharing folder with a
real Computer with OS WinXP & Vista.

P.S.: Do we need Wizard Mounter if we only need to access WinXP Sharing Folder?
Since OS2008 is already can access the XP share folder....

Thanks......!

Could you share your experience with me? Actually I am not able to access/see any file/folders from my laptop/xp. I have N800 with 2008. I have turned off my norton firewall but could not get through.

Seems like the wizard mounter for OS2008 depends on Wizard Mounter depends on
rx-34-kernel-nfs-modules and portmap.

I'd love to find the nfs module for my N800 as being a pure Linux household, using samba is not really worthwhile! anyone know where it be?

I could install Wizard Mounter on my N800 running OS2008. But I don't know how to make it work. Let's say, in the most simple occasion: how to share files through Windows XP or Vista? What should we do to get it to work?

Thanks.

I believe this might hold a clue.

I've installed the Wizard Mounter ITOS2008 version on my N810, and it launches and I can fill in the mount information and then it goes away. I go to FileManager and it has a Remote Filesystem folder with nothing in it. I don't see anyway to see what is going on.
