I think this topic is of general interest to any Nokia tablet user, and I couldn't find a better place to post it, which is why I am posting it here.

The International Herald Tribune (www.iht.com) has made text to speech available for all of its stories. This means that you can listen to (and read at the same time, which I like to do) most of the major news stories. The voice is a computer-simulated reader, and you may be surprised to learn that text to speech has gotten pretty darned good.

And this reader is not the best I've heard.

When you click on a story headline to read it, you will find the choice of listening to the story on the right. For a moment, it appears that you can't read the story and listen at the same time, but you will note that the print story is just in another window.

The International Herald Tribune is now one of the first sites I will check daily from my N800. I like to listen to the longer, most heavy-duty stories, because reading and listening helps me get the detils down better.

Thanks, Geneven

The Spanish elmundo.es does something similar using AT&T/Rosa's voice.
e.g.: Text - mp3

I use the various TTS services on my PC and have TextAloud installed in my browsers.

Here are some TTS demos:
Loquendo [my favorite]
AT&T
Acapela [mp3 error on n8x0 - try on PC]
