I understand google Video Chat requires the both parties to have N800.. Allthough it works great, its unreasonable to expect my friends to have n800 as well. Are there any alternatives?

Using the forum's search function is an alternative.

Man, there's nothing like a helpful community to welcome the new folks.

After months of realizing that Nokia sold me a video walkie talkie, yesterday I finally got video chat to work from the N800 to the PC. As far as I can tell GIZMO on a OS2008 upgraded N800 and the proper version of the GIZMO client on the PC is the only way to do it. Please don't tell the world that you know of another way unless you have done it. I read a lot of posts here that were just plain wrong. Bad info is worse than no info.

I have done video calls over SIP from N800 to PC (using Eyebeam) on OS2008.

I've listed some info about video chatting on serveral posts in the last couple weeks including this one:

If you look at how many times zerojay has been thanked, you'll realize that he *is* one of the helpful members of the community.

And the OP is not "new folk", he has something like 15 posts. Hopefully he would know by now that you don't start a new thread without doing a search first. And if he *doesn't* realize it yet, then a little tough-love is not a bad idea.

In fact, I would expect a complete newbie here to know better. It is the most basic 'netiquette and rule #1 or 2 at every forum site.
