After I upgraded, the browser instantly closes when I try to access any website, such as Gronmayer's repositories.

I upgraded manually with RX-34_2008SE_1.2007.44-4_PR_COMBINED_MRO_ARM.bin.
I also tried
RX-44_2008SE_1.2007.42-19_PR_COMBINED_MRO_ARM.bin
but it wouldn't even install.

Then I downgraded to the latest 2007 OS and it worked fine.

I'd like to upgrade to the 2008SE. Any suggestions?

Thanks

reflash ?
stupid/obvious solution but works most of the time...
try not to restore after the reset!
keep us posted.

just flashed mine (like 12min ago) and it worls like a charm.
only took 4min to upgrade!

Of course, I reflashed. But I did restore after each flash.
Which binary file did you use?

I think disaster is quite an overstatement, but I guess you were trying to grab attention.

This topic is covered in several threads already. When you search, you'll find it.

The restore function screws up a number of things.

Do a manual backup and restore. That should avoid the catastrophe.

I reflashed without restoring and it seems fine.

Since this thread will now pop-up when a search on the subject is initiated I will add.

The problem with back-up data may simply be the cookies saved from the last browser version.

Clearing all cookies may solve the problem without having to re-flash...

BTW, I agree with Tech about reposts simply because of my first statement. However you can't unring a bell and unless the Mod merges threads, the dee dee question will show up on subsequent searches of the subject.
This requires unnecessary work for the mod and wishing more work on anyone is rude, IMHO.

What is equally frustrating is opening a thread and finding a post that refers to something that can be easily linked to... but the OP neglected to provide the dang link!

OK, for the sake of completeness, here are all the previous threads that discussed this browser crash issue (here-after to be known as "THE DISASTER"), any of which the OP could have easily found if he had just searched instead of starting yet another new thread:
  1. http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...ead.php?t=7412
  2. http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...ad.php?t=11351
  3. http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...ad.php?t=11704
  4. http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...ad.php?t=11712
  5. http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...ad.php?t=12295
  6. http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...ad.php?t=12296
  7. http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...ad.php?t=12325
  8. http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...ad.php?t=12412
  9. http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...ad.php?t=12549
I may have missed some.

And of course there was a bug report, with solution:
https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2398

I hope you're not expecting me to do this linking to solutions every time someone opens a yet another new thread about a problem that has already been discussed in another thread... that would be something like 20 times per day... maybe more.

By the way, you have the problem and the solution wrong. You could go read any one of those threads, but it has to do with the "engine=opera" setting being restored from backup and there is no Opera in OS2008, it is MicroB.
