Just noticed FMradio is listed today, so are the other files in that repo.

I had an interesting issue that I think the FM radio was the cause of. I activated the applet, got local stations, etc, and noticed that my battery was running down VERY fast. It wouldn't last a day even with little use. The FM radio applet wasn't actively playing, but it and the camera app were the only things I'd added the previous few days.

Deactivating the FM Radio applet seems to have improved battery performance last night and today... And I know the FM radio wasn't "playing" the whole time. Has anyone else encountered something similar?

Do you have headphones plugged in (acts as an antennae)?

You must hook up a headphone, as the cord acts as the aerial - there ain't no such thing as FM reception inside a closed EMV safe case. The original headphone/mic combo works fine, YMMV with other headphones.

As a huge user of the FM Radio, as soon as I upgraded to OS2008, I installed the applet right after installing Skype and pairing my bluetooth headset. This is where the trouble began. I noticed that after installing the FM Radio applet, I could no longer get the bluetooth audio settings to appear no matter what I did. De-installing did the trick (I only realized this after reflashing). I too noticed that my battery was going flat though with the FM Radio applet installed and not playing. I really hope it gets fixed because I use it a lot.

I'm wondering how people are faring with the FM Radio applet in OS2008 on the N800. This thread has a number of users saying it caused problems (e.g., battery getting drained quickly), but with no postings here in over a month, I wonder if that's because the problem isn't showing up anymore (like maybe an intervening update of the OS solved the problem). (I'm interested in installing the FM Radio, but I'm not excited about the possibility I would degrade performance of the IT overall.)

Answering my own question as to whether the FM radio in OS2008 is screwing up battery life or other things on the N800: for me it's working great and not draining the battery or inflicting any other problems.
