Hi,

I wish to push the location data to GPS or maps application 800/810.
Eg. Friend sends me an location information (lon, lat, alt), the location information would be then presented automatically with navicore.

Is there a way to push this information (form the command line) to the gps or maps?

I have tried to play around with dbus messages, but failed to get any results. [dbus-send /org/gpsd org.gpsd.fix double:1.19744e+09 int32:3 double:0.005 double:15.7382 double:107.7 double:16 double:6.2 double:20.8 double:0 double:177.657 double:0 double:32 double:0 double:nan]

I also could not find how to start navicore with wanted location.

Any advice?

How would your friend send you the information? I seem to remember someone talking about an option/patch to Jabber to allow your friends to provide location information. If this were enabled then it would be quite cool to be able to plot it in maemo-mapper or the like.

Depending on how the information is sent to you, you could make it into a POI file and import it into your mapping app. Not nicely automated, but a first step at least.

Script on the background could go to check for example an web page for the information (with wget). Then push the info to navicore so that it would show the location once started or even started automatically from the command line.

Would only work if you have an always on internet connection. Too bad gpsdrive doesn't work for the IT's. It has that function built in.
