These responses are far too tame ;-) Someone has to spoil the party, may as well be me! So the question is: wisdom of age vs youthful enthusiasm? personally I don't profess to having any of the former and only a little left of the latter. At least age gives you perspective, you get a chuckle out of statements such as "it's impossible to program modern computers in machine code" and get to see old ideas being regurgitated as The Next Big Thing.

ps: there would be some capital p's around here but I have just discovered that shift-p opens windows media player (xp sp2, ff 2.0.0.11) - anyone else have/had this problem and know what the solution is? Update: hmmm, for some unknown reason "Windows Media Player" was activated in taskbar/toolbars. Untick and back to normal. Very strange. Stuff like that makes me paranoid

29 here.
First portable TRS-80 loved it!First Linux experience probably tinkering with a server about 5 years ago or so.
Formally trained in Pascal and C++ even though I don't code at all anymore. I'm getting into the movie business after my love affair with IT fizzled.
The age on this forum definitely skews older thats why I love it there is less OMG teh IT suxxorrs get teh ifonzzz, and more somewhat rational discussion etc. I'm sure that those days are numbered and this place will get more and more crappy.

EIPI: Hahhaha. There's a line from a song (by a pretty bad band) that goes "I'll be happy when I die, I'll be 34 but I'll have my pride." and I love it cause I really think it applies to me. My usual activities are getting campy with age. (Another few years and I'll be the 'old guy' in the circle pit.)

I realized it was Joe Mccarthy, I just thought that would put you in your 40's (or more)!

Another telling piece of information would be for people on this forum to post real pictures of themselves, or better yet - actually meet in person. A sign of the times now - it used to be that you would have 'meets' - little get togethers to discuss gadgets. Surely something like that would be beneficial to everyone - you can learn first hand how to do something, and give/get hands-on advice/training. Any thoughts?

45 years and about 8 months here...and I am *so* glad that this still qualifies me to stay out of the final "46 and over" category -- whew!

For the future, maybe we can have a few more age categories for people like me, so that I can avoid the 'old guy' slot?
