the dbus-bluez-scan doesnt start up the bluetooth device on the tablet. i utterly hate having to open the control panel to start the bluetooth device, when the action can be done via command prompt. now that hcitool and hciconfig are no longer available the following post is completely useless...
#!/bin/sh
#
dbus_method(){
local dest=$1
shift
DBUS_REPLY=$(dbus-send 2>&1 --system --type=method_call --print-reply --dest="$dest" $* )
}
dbus_result(){
echo $DBUS_REPLY | cut -d ' ' -f 7- | tr -d \"
}
err(){
echo >&2 $*
}
mode_get(){
if dbus_method org.bluez /org/bluez/hci0 org.bluez.Adapter.GetMode ; then
echo $(dbus_result)
else
err ${DBUS_REPLY}
fi
}
mode_set(){
dbus_method org.bluez /org/bluez/hci0 org.bluez.Adapter.SetMode string:$1 || err ${DBUS_REPLY}
}
if [ "$1" != "" ] ; then
mode_set $1
fi
mode_get
dbus-bluez-adapter-mode off dbus-bluez-adapter-mode connectable
dbus-bluez-adapter-mode

I flashed my N800 to OS 2008 last night. After that everything worked fine until I tried to us hcitool to scan for a bluetooth device. There was just no hcitool. Bluez-utils are installed and the connection by using the gui works fine too but I really need hcitool and rfcomm which isn't there neither.
I googled a while but there was nothing like that so I'm asking here. Is it a common problem on OS 2008? I saw a few post about people working with hcitool on OS 2008 because of I'm a little bit confused why there isn't a hcitool on my device.
Does anybody know how to fix this? On 2007 everything worked well. I really hope some of you got an answer.
