One quick and dirty way of getting some nice wallpapers:
- find a picture that you like (flickr, own pics, etc), and save it to your device
- open it with the Image Viewer application
- from the application menu, select Edit > Crop
- Set the ratio from Default ratio to Screen ratio
- Drag the resulting box to the top left corner, then grab the lower right triangle and drag the box to the correct size, so that it covers the area of interest
- Hit the green check mark
- This results in the right proportions, but the picture may be still too big - use the Menu > Edit > Resize function (but usually not necessary)
- Hit the folder icon to save the picture (I usually use "high" quality")
Now use the home menu to set this image as your background. You may need to use "scaled" instead of "centred" if the picture is larger than 800 pixels wide.
Perhaps. The ones I downloaded from the net were 500X300.
You must have downloaded some pics that were formatted/resized for a resolution different from the ITs (i.e., for this forum or something). 800x480 is correct.
