I have my email setup and working with Gmail, incoming and outgoing both work flawlessly. However, with incoming, the images that are in the main body of the email never show up, all I get is a big empty white box with a red X in the top left hand corner. If images or anything are attatched, I receive them without any problems.

Any ideas on what could be up?

Thanks.

claws works.. it just doesn't integrate with the os as well as built-in or modest. I'm just going to wait on modest to support html

Claws works fine and its HTML plugin works quite well (just be sure to enable it in Claws after installing). Claws also has options for viewing photos inline, etc.

Viewing pictures inline is a major security flaw, especially these days.

This is why remote picture loading is disabled by default in Claws Mail's HTML plugin. For pictures attached to the mail, however, there's no potential problem, so it's enabled by default (both for plain text mails and HTML mails).

You should rephrase that. Word for word, it doesn't make sense. Viewing remote content (including images) included in html messages can pose a security risk, but if someone attaches an image to a mail they send you, then there is no security risk in viewing it inline, (as Colin says).
