If you DO have to reboot, or turn off the N8x0 for whatever reason and worry you cannot get it back on, like you are on the street, no extra battery or whatever, provided that you are not low on battery power,

go

- xterm
- sudo gainroot
- shutdown -r now

you are back on without running the risk of this 'N8x0 power on/off enigma'.

I have sufferred from the above at least 2-3 times a day (on testing various programs requires a reboot), I suddenly come up with such a clever idea and would like to start a new thread to gain better exposure for other users suffer from similar problems.
