I just bought a new N800, and updated the platform to OS2008. I now have the “map” application but there’s no map showing. Can anyone please tell me where and how I can download the North American maps? Thank you in advance for your help!

Open the Map application, go to Menu>Maps, and click on the "Available maps" tab. Select the map you want to download and click the "Download" button. I use a N810 so it downloads the maps to the internal memory by default. The N800 may ask which memory card you want to download to, but I can't speak from experience.

The North American maps are divided into USA East, USA West, and Canada (which I believe also contains Alaska). Downloading USA East will include (very) limited information for USA West (mostly freeways or other major roads, absolutely nothing even close to neighborhood level) and vice-versa. Unless space is an issue, I would recommend downloading both and selecting the one where you live as the default.

Thank you very much for your help! When I click on the “refresh” button, all the available maps show up. Wonderful!
