With standardized specs, 8, 16, and 32GB should be fully supported. I have a 160GB external hard drive attached to my computer. I can say with extreme confidence, that my computer will be able to handle 500GB from the same manufacture. Why is that? You don't always need to try it or have it officially announced. My gateway laptop never officially stated it would support 160GB external hard drives either.
