Does anyone else have this problem? I just got a Nokia 770 yesterday and I see a display problem. I've been looking at every Nokia 770 image I can find online and none of them seem to show this:

On the left side of my screen, about 3/4 an inch thick from the left side, there is a solid dark bar. It looks like the screen was "burnt-in" where the navigation bar is. It is only visible on all white screens, like on google.com.

Anyone else have this problem or do I have a detect 770?

Yeah got it as well... its quite bad under certain conditions.
Add it to the list along with the warped body and cracks.

I don't have digital camera. I know, it is funny, as just spent $50+ on a 1GB RS-MMC card. Maybe someone else can take a picture of it.

I'll tell you how to spot it. Look at your left application bar that normally on the 770. See where it is, how it takes up about 3/4 of an inch on the left side. Now go to a "white" web page like google. Push to full screen button on top of the 770. It looks as if that application bar was burn into the screen in a light grey.

Sounds like that goes beyond an acceptable defect (I can't believe that term even exists) like burnt out pixels, etc. I'd return 'er for a new one. Hope that doesn't sour you on the 770, they're kickass little tablets.

    Hi.

Checked it last night. Kind of hard to get a pic of. If you look at it still it is not so noticable, but if you are moving the unit around in your hands it stands out alot more. Also, it lines up with the bar on the left side. I have changed my theme to the one with the most white in it (had the blue one). I have started switching the unit on and off anyway (because sometimes it runs completely dry over night).

Correct me if I am wrong but my mobile screen stays on all the time, just the backlight goes off. I will check if this is the case with the 770. If so, the devs need to make the lcd completely switch off when in standby.

    Hedge,
On full Screen web browsing you don't see this? Maybe mine's defective.

None whatsoever. The left side is the 'good' side of my screen, on the right I get a slight 'stage lighting' effect:

Hope that worked, have't tried my ascii skills in years.

That's the backlight I imagine? I can't check mine since it isn't dark here. Try changing the backlight setting and see if your stagelights go out!

    Well I returned mine.

What Hedge was talking about is the backlighting. On the one I returned, the backlighting "stage lighting" effect wasn't so bad. But that black bar was just too annoying. I use google.com as the homepage, so I see it each and every time I used it.
