If I download the latest *.bin from java.sun.com, and extract it on another computer and transfer that folder to the OS2008, will I be able to use the .../bin/java to run java programs from command line? An example would be .../bin/java -jar jarfile.jar

Thanks.

no, the java "engine" is different for each operating system.
There is .dab afaik but there is a java port for ARM/N800 (not tried it) here:
http://wiki.java.net/bin/view/Mobile...tformsNokia800

It might not work under OS2008 seen it's done during os2007 times

more info is here http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...ad.php?t=11580
