About my n810: It has been updated with the newest OS version a few days ago. I've tried the issue (next section) after a fresh OS install as Nokia support suggested, without any positive results. I have also tried a suggestion from these forums of turning off power saving wifi options, but that did not help either.
Here's the situation:
There is an open public wifi here at work with no protection, and I have an 80% signal. It does not require you to agree to use it (re-directing you to a certain homepage).
My PSP connects without any problems - and can load pages just fine. My co-workers laptop (Windows) can connect instantly, and surf without any problems.
My n810 "connects" to the wifi, but receives no data. I can not open web pages as it claims I must not be connected to the internet. It won't load my contacts (gmail) as it can't receive any data. So it's technically connected, as it has an IP/default router/etc... all assigned properly, but it's not able to get data from the wifi.
This has to be something on the n810's end as the PSP and Laptop worked perfectly.
The 2nd odd issue is what appears to be ad-hoc networks. There are 3 open ones in this town with about 50% signal, and each one does the same thing to my n810 as this wifi at work. It connects, and get's all the needed ips/etc... but won't receive any data and can't load web pages.
Odd...?
The wifi is working though. I am able to connect to 2 different open wifis (both that redirect you to a homepage to agree on usage) and my home WEP router.
Nokia suggested to try it after a fresh re-install of the OS, which did not work either.
I can not even swap it out with a new one as the business I bought it from is going out of business and "all sales are final" (also they were out of them the next weekend).
Nokia has suggested to send it to a repair center (a state away) and have them look at it. However, I envision them getting it - testing it on a wifi at their center and writing it off as "working".
Does anyone have ANY suggestions to try here? Any software I should download that might help? I've only had it a week+ so I'm pretty new to the software available. If anyone can lend ideas here, it's GREATLY appreciated as I really don't want to send it back for what I presume will be a pointless waste of time.
Otherwise, has anyone sent theirs in for repairs - and how was the service?
Thanks again for your help (and the forums!)
