Good question. I've only had the n810 for a week+ now so I don't know any of the programs that might help me here. I will install that if I can find it when I get home and I'll let you know the results tomorrow morning.

If you have any other suggestions in the meantime they are appreciated. Thank you.

Hmm... is "ping" also the name of the program?

'ping' is the name of the command, and it may be a standalone package of the same name or part of some other package. A quick look on http://www.gronmayer.com/it/index.php shows a probable package:

iputils-ping

You may be able to find it in your application manager package list, or if not, with this: http://www.gronmayer.com/it/dl.php?id=123

However, it may be installed already, as part of busybox.. I'm not certain, because I'm on OS2007 still and cannot check.

Anyway, when you find it, or get it installed, you can execute it as follows:
ping 192.168.1.1
(if netstat -r or netstat -nr shows default router to be 192.168.1.1, for example).

It'll be interesting to see if you get any reply from the gateway, or not.

Excellent, thanks for the links I will install that when I get home from work and try it first thing tomorrow morning.

The n810 does automatically get an IP, DNS, etc... from the signal so we will see...

BTW, whatever the result of the ping test, it could be interesting to see the output of
Code:
ifconfig
netstat -nr
Maybe there are some hidden anomalies there.

Also check that /tmp/resolv.conf.wlan0 makes sense as well (this is, at least in OS2007, the data that normally goes to /etc/resolv.conf when connecting by dhcp, but in the IT that file just contains 127.0.0.1 because it uses a special internal dns intermediate server).

Hmm, you've long since surpassed my n810 knowledge, as well as Linux.

I think I can figure out how to check that. I'll try tonight and see what's going on.
