I would like to browse dumbed down mobile websites with my n800. Is there a browser application that thinks it's a mobile browser so websites will send it the mobile content by default?

I read most sites through skweezer.net. This does a great job of turning *any* site into a mobile site.

There's also bywifi.com -- it encodes videos like youtube for mobile, and does websites

Also, look at this thread: it discusses getting websites to treat you like you're an iPhone, and also has mobile links: http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...ad.php?t=14259
(read at least #14 and 15. Along those same lines, here are alternative userstrings: http://www.zytrax.com/tech/web/mobile_ids.html

HOWEVER, first you should go to: http://www.ippages.com/us/?version=full and copy and paste to somewhere safe your browser user-agent string from BEFORE you start screwing around with it. That way, you can go home again. (The posts that say leaving the override blank will return you to where you were are incorrect.)

Not on point 100%, but my favorite NIT-friendly look and function (most N800-friendly and thumb-friendly) is in a special-access BBC website: http://www.bbc.co.uk/cgi-bin/educati.../#startcontent

One other thing - you can turn images off and use greasemonkey or flashblock or such to stop the preload of the multimedia stuff.

If there are RSS feeds, the rss feed reader is more efficient.
