Anyone know why the application manager doesn't show all available pkgs?

e.g. I've added Andrey's repository:

deb http://olya.com/maemo chinook user

and, from the cmdline, I can see his gps-clockd pkg:

Nokia-N800-50-2:~# apt-cache search gps-clockd
gps-clockd - Daemon to synchronize system clock to GPS time.

but this doesn't appear under "Browse installable applications" in the Application Manager.

anyone know why?

thanks much...

Have you added all the repositories at www.gronmayer.com/it ?

That will add a lot more.

eh, sorry? don't quite grok that

my question was: why does apt-cache see a pkg but app mgr not see it? both on the tablet itself.

The application manager only lists packages in the user/ section. You can switch it to "red pill" mode if you want see all. Instructions for entering this mode are buried somewhere in this forum and in the maemo.org wiki.

thanks for that. However, the pkg I noted does indeed seem to be in "user", so perhaps that's not the reason in this case?

ah, many apols. Looks like I am confusing the different uses of "user". I was looking at the pkg directory name, e.g.:

deb http://olya.com/maemo chinook user

which does have "user", but are you talking about the "section" in the pkg description? e.g:

Package: gps-clockd
Section: utils

This would seem to explain it.
